I like this bike over-all, but I needed to adjust the derailleurs out of the box and quite drastically. Also, the rear brake was completely disconnected. WARNING: MONGOOSE WILL NOT HONOR THEIR USUAL LIFETIME WARRANTY WHEN PURCHASED FROM AMAZON!!!! I had a small defect that's not covered, but I emailed them and it was resolved to my satisfaction.

As far as the lack of kickstand goes, this is a budget/entry level pro mountain bike - most of the time these don't have kickstands because they get in the way. If you're looking for a bike to ride in the city or light retain like gravel or dirt paths, this bike is overkill.
